Beautiful “Bellagio” is located in the Italian Lombardy region. Located on Lake Como this stunning place is a famous location of movies such as 2004 film Ocean’s Twelve. James Bond film Casino Royale, which was released in 2006, and Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, released in 2002 were also filmed in the Lake Como area. George Clooney, and Brad Pitt both happens to own homes here. It is no wonder that Hollywood loves this location as it is magical.
Bellagio offers stunning mountain scenery and an opportunity to enjoy the wonderful local culture.
The culinary options offer your palette a diversity of homemade foods and wines.
Some of the dishes we tried included local fish filled ravioli in a sage butter sauce, taglietti pasta and baby tomatoes in a basil butter. We also tried parmigiana which is a dish made with a shallow or deep-fried sliced aubergine filling, layered with cheese and tomato sauce, then baked. The tomato and bocconcini salad here is a pesto lovers dream. The olive oils here are beautifully flavored.
We are planning to take a cooking course soon and learn how to make some of these dishes. The images below are from La Lanterna Bellagio.
We stayed at a delightful Villa while here. We highly recommend this as a place to stay. We were greeted and our bags were brought in to our rooms – each of which had its own private bathroom. The downstairs area was available for our use and breakfast was prepared for us in the mornings.
We were about a 15-20 minute walk into the town itself and we recommend going through the Giardine de Villa Melzi which will cost you about $9 for a pass per person to walk through back and forth. The gardens are so beautiful and we spent a fair amount of time looking at the plants, statues and architecture there. The actual roads are somewhat unsafe for walking as the are narrow and there are no sidewalks. The park is worth the money!
We recommend Bellagio as a place to put on your list of places to see and eat!
