Eating Fish in Gilleleje, Denmark

FeaturedAs we all know biking is big in Denmark and we think we found THE BIGGEST BIKE here! Gilleleje is one of the main towns of the Gribskov municipality in Region Hovedstaden in Denmark. The town is at the northernmost point of Sjælland in Denmark. As we looked accross the ‘Kattegat’ – which is the last arm of the North Sea – and the entrance to the Baltic, we could see Sweden across the way. Lucky us we are having SUNNY early fall weather! Going into the small town we found a fish shop named Adamsens Fisk, selling a large variety of appealing looking fresh seafood. We chose the Morksej fish special (a white fish) which came in ready to bake packaging that was already in a white sauce with some vegetables. We bought 2 orders which turned out to be double what four of us could eat. ($40) The fish was fresh and it tasted okay but it was a little bland for our taste-buds. Certainly the ‘buy & bake’ is a great concept though! We plan to go to the market and purchase some fresh garlic and onion for our ‘re-heat’ tonight which we will pan fry. Watercress, (highly nutritious & is nippy, like radishes) is sold pre-sprouted in little containers that you keep refrigerated. You just use a pair of scissors to cut off what you would like on your portion. We love it on our morning eggs and well, just about anything!
