One great thing about living in a retirement / tourist town (even though I am neither) is that you never know when a cute little summertime venue will pop up and add something special to a town that sometimes feels sleepy.
This was certainly the case for the Ooolala Creperie outdoor lakeview pop up bistro that is open from 8am-8pm most days between the rose gardens and the S.S. Sicamous.
The charming French crepe wagon is wildly popular among locals and tourists each Saturday at the downtown Farmers market. The ingredients are fresh, the batter is gluten free (buckwheat) and the prices are reasonable for the massive sizes of the crepes.
The menu has a choice of sweet crepes or savory crepes ranging from under 10$ to about 12$.
The ‘Je ne sais quoi’ of this experiences comes from the mixture of French music playing from the bistro, checkered table cloths in a bistro setting and the endearing accent of the chef flipping the crepes in the background.
